Chris Y asked:

What are some inequalities in ice hockey? ex. - social class, gender, race, etc.

What class gets the most or least from the sport?

Are any positions in the game regulated by class considerations?

Is the audience participation oriented by any race, income, class, or gender consideration?

How about the managers, head coaches, and owners of the teams…is there any inequality present?

What does it cost to participate?

What does it pay on all levels of the sport?

Some other inequalities may include race, gender, age, income, education, class structure.

You have to have lots of money to afford equipment, fees and travel expenses. The costs start from day one. Next it really helps if your a brutal thug.

News flash: life isn’t fair.

Any “inequalities” in hockey won’t stand in the way of someone who wants to play the game. Wayne Gretzky learned to skate on a homemade patch of ice his dad created by spraying water on the ground in winter.

As in any sport, the equipment is expensive, but most schools have groups that will assist or help raise money for the players.
Even the community will kick in.

Most hockey players I know in Canada, started in their own back yards, then moved on to skating ponds, then skating rinks.

Since it was primarily a cold weather sport, most everyone has played hockey,…………. even all us girls.
As far as aggression, I think football, boxing and basketball
are pretty aggressive. We like to think of it as being focused and “dedicated”.
