DJ Wuss asked:
I have rather old-ish Louisville’s, and I was wondering if I would be wasting my time trying wear them while playing roller hockey on these new synthetic “ice” sheets. Do they slide at all? Wear down? Tear???
I’m mostly just worried about tearing them, they’re old, like I said, and have some leather parts.

If you are worried about tearing them up, I probably would not wear them. When me and my friends play street hockey, we just use old gear that we would not mine beating up or throwing around so to speak. Obviously, I’ve never seen your pads so I have no clue as to what they look like or anything, so just go with what you think would be better.
I would like to note though that if they are leather and your sliding slide to slide in the street, they will more than likely rip. Hope that helps!
The problem with those type of pads are they are heavy and hot. You’ll want roller hockey goalie pads because they are lighter and your reaction time will be faster, plus they are a hell of alot cooler to play in.
I don’t know if you plan on playing outside, but in Michigan during the summer roller hockey season, you’d die of heat stroke in those.
I would get a pair designed for roller, they’re lighter and sometimes even have coolmax, unless playing in elite level tournaments you don’t need that much protection since the puck /ball used office is considerably lighter than a ice one I have played on sportcourt using my ice goalie gear and was ok but outside it’s useless to even consider doing so
